Brushing teeth the right way : Part 1

Our teeth ensure our survival and are the first important step of the intake of food. Teeth perform absolute records every day due to the jaw muscle. Teeth face enormous resistance while comminuting food into easily digestible pieces, they decide for soft and hard foods and permanently face the fluctuations between hot and cold. The care for our teeth is therefore a duty for our survival until old age which is far too often neglected and underestimated. With the problems of caries and periodontitis, the primordinal brushing of teeth is no longer sufficient for the care and conservation nowadays.

So if you want to avoid tooth damages and tooth problems you should brush your teeth thrice a day. A very thorough dental care is at least important once a day which includes a very thorough cleansing of all interdental spaces. However, a removal of scraps of food after the intake of food is basically advisable.

But the majority of people do not adhere to this. As dental cleansing takes approx. five minutes and can hardly be carried out thoroughly on the way or at work, if at all, only 20 % brush their teeth once a day for approx. 2 minutes.

There are no general rules for toothbrushing as for example persons with exposed tooth necks or many bridges have to use other techniques than persons with health teeth. The individual recommendation can only be made by a dentist after a detailed diagnosis.
